How it All Started

How it All Started

Market Cross Pub and Brewery was established in 1994 to bring the English pub life to downtown Carlisle. Jeff and JoAnne Goss researched Carlisle, PA and found that it is the sister city to Carlisle, England. At the center of Carlisle, England lies Market Cross Square which gave the name Market Cross Pub to the establishment. Market Cross was created to bring people from all backgrounds and places to one cozy pub to share a fresh pint and enjoy homemade comfort food for any occasion. In 2002 Market Cross expanded to include an on-site Brewery that produces roughly 15 styles of English ales and lagers throughout the year. You can find Market Cross Brewery on tap exclusively at the pub. In 2017 Jeff and JoAnne’s daughter Ashleigh took ownership to keep Market Cross around for many years to come. Market Cross Pub and Brewery is a second home to many guests enjoying the pub family. It hosts events and banquets for all occasions for guests of all ages.

Market Cross Brewery

In 2002 Market Cross built a brewery on-site. The brewery houses a 10 BBL Peter Austin system with open-fermentation. The brew crew works hands-on to create all natural, unfiltered English style ales and lagers. Brewmaster, Kevin Spicer, has been the driving force behind the operation since the start. You can find Market Cross brews exclusively on tap at Market Cross Pub. The pub rotates roughly 3 – 4 styles at a time. Their most popular styles are Olde Yeller IPA, English Red Ale and Excalibur Imperial Stout. Brewery Tours available with notice.
